May Workshop

On Tuesday 3 May, the girls got together for a workshop and seeing as Mother's Day was coming up, I decided we would do a classic tote bag with matching tag and card.  After seeing several examples on other websites, I drew up my own template, figured out the measurements and made a prototype. Made a few examples to make sure the measurements were correct before making up my project packs for the girls using a wide range of designer series paper and matching cardstock and brads.

They were straight into it. After lots of cutting, folding and sticking together, we had lots of colourful totes and I hope lots of happy mothers.  These bags also make great gifts for other occasions.

Like this bag , which I made for a friend who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, called Isabelle. The baby singlets fit snuggly into the bag.

Kung Hei Fat Choy

Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year and it also marks the start of the Year of the Rabbit.

People born in the Year of the Rabbit (1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011) are articulate, talented and ambitious. Rabbit people are admired, trusted and are often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. Rabbit people seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig and Dog.

I'd like to wish all my Stampin' Up! customers a very Happy Chinese New Year, Kung Hei Fat Choy, may 2011 bring you wealth, health and prosperity and lots of Stampin' Up! goodness.

Piece of Cake

With several family members celebrating their birthdays early in the year, I made this cake just for the occasion. I also used it in my first workshop of the year. Because the cakes are hollow, I put in slips of paper, with dates of workshops as well as a lucky winner. The person that got the slice of cake got to win a prize.

Materials:

• Very Vanilla cardstock
• Soft Suede cardstock
• Pretty in Pink cardstock
• Regal Rose 5/8" grosgrain ribbon
• Big Bold Birthday stampset
• Vintage Wallpaper textured impressions

The template for the cake was taken from Splitcoaststampers and adapted.
