Christmas Greetings

Whenever Christmas comes around, it gets so busy and hectic, that I never get to post the cards I make. This year I made several, some to send and some to give personally.  The ones to send, aren't as detailed or layered as the ones I give out in person, but they are all made with love.

Then there are the last minute ones, which my family members request for their friends.  Lucky I always have cards on standby.

Happy Halloween

I couldn't resist the Happy Haunting DSP in the new Holiday Catalogue.  The papers make great gift bags. Embellished with the Spider Web Doilies and a "Good to the Last Bite" tag, these made great gifts for my Stampin' Up! ladies, filled with lots of treats.

Club SUM Workshop 6 October 2015

It's been a while since I posted, so with this workshop looming, I pulled out the new Holiday Catalogue, my ipad and started searching for ideas on Pinterest. These cards were CASED, but not all items are from the new catalogue, as I found I could use some of my previously purchased items.

Club SUM Workshop 4 August 2015

One of my amazing demonstrators, Sue, held this workshop and had two fantastic projects for us to make.

Our first project used the Vintage Leaves stamp set with the co-ordinating Leaflets Framelits and the some of the delightful papers from the Bohemian DSP set.
The second project made use of the Watercolor Wings stamp set as well as the co-ordinating and more wonderful papers from the English Garden DSP set.

If you are reading this and would like to join our workshops, please drop us a line or leave a comment, we welcome all stampers, whether you're a beginner or have been stamping for a while.

Watercolor Words

Watercolor Words "Just for You" card

Tried a new technique for the background of this card.  Using a sheet of acetate and some colourful ink refills. I spritzed the acetate sheet with some water first then added drops of colour and using my aqua painter swirled it around to cover the areas which I wanted coloured. Then I positioned my piece of white cardstock over the wet ink and pressed into it so that the colour transferred to my white cardstock. Because it's wet, I left the coloured sheet to dry before adding my butterflies cut from black cardstock and my saying from the Watercolor Words stamp set. Love how the black just "pops" with the coloured background.

Guy Greetings Masculine Card

Guy Greetings Birthday Card

Happy Birthday to my brother-in-law.  For his special day I made this card, which was showcased in my July workshop. To make it special I added his name and the number 60 using the alphabet sizzlits - an old set as well as a star.

I also added a concertina drop down surprise, so that I could add, Husband, Dad and Brother (I added the in-law in marker pen), so that the whole family could sign the card. This is held together by a Arrow clip from the Hung Up Cute Clips set and accessorised with Lost Lagoon ribbon.

Club SUM Workshop 7 July 2015

Tonight I had my Stampin' Up! ladies make two cards.

The first one is a male card.  I don't do many of these, but the Guy Greetings stamp set lends itself to some great male cards, including this one.

The second we made is a very nice floral card which can be used also for any occasion. Using aqua painters I watercoloured the flowers with Watermelon Wonder and Daffodil Delight.

This card lends itself to so many colour variations. Here's one I did using Marina Mist, for a blue version.

Pricing Changes with new Catalogue

With the 2015-2016 annual catalogue, you’ll likely notice some pricing changes. I've summarized some of the changes below:

Even-Dollar Pricing: The move to even-dollar pricing means you won’t see anymore $xx.95 in prices (please note, however, that you will still see some products priced at $xx.25, $xx.50, and $xx.75). The benefit of this is a much more simple pricing solution that is also consistent with how many other direct-sales companies price their products.

Clearance Rack: Clearance Rack items will continue to be priced at $xx.x9. This is to distinguish clearance prices from regular prices.

Product Price Increases: As any viable company must do, SU continually evaluate their pricing to ensure they are offering high-quality, competitively-priced products while also remaining profitable.

To that end SU have made the following product-line increases:
Ink pads and refills: It has been several years since they have increased the price of ink. Over time, costs have gone up, resulting in a small price increase.
Big Shot, cutting pads, and crease pads: MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) has increased, meaning they’ve had to increase the retail price.
Paper: Increased costs have resulted in a slight price increase on cardstock and envelopes.
Extra-large punches: Their punch supplier increased the cost on some of the punches, necessitating that they increase the price on the largest punch body style.
Background stamps: SU costs have gone up, resulting in a small price increase.

Product Decreases: While SU have had to make some pricing increases, they are happy to announce that they've been able to lower prices on several products to make them more competitively priced, including several punches; Textured Impressions Embossing Folders; and various tools, trims and embellishments.

Retiring Products

The time has come for the Stampin' Up! Retired List 2015 to be released. Say goodbye to retiring products from the 2014-2015 annual catalogue, but before we do, here's your opportunity to order your favourites with discounts up to 50 percent off retail. Retiring products will only be available until 2 June*, or while supplies last, so now's a great time to get them before they're gone!

*Note: Why are these products retiring on 2 June? Since all catalogue launches will now be aligned globally, the current 2014-2015 annual catalogue will end when the new annual catalogue launches on 2 June 2015, rather than its original end date of 30 June 2015. This includes retiring product within the catalogues, as well as the print catalogues themselves.

If you would like to place an order, send me an email or go to the Stampin' Up! Online store to place your orders.

Remember to get your orders in by June 2, as these items are only available while stocks last.

80th Birthday

My Aunt Catherine commissioned me to make some 15, but later became 20 invites for her husband, my Uncle David's 80th birthday. So I set to work and came up with the above design.

Then I needed to come up with a birthday card, so I cased one which I saw posted on Splitcoaststampers. It involved cutting strips of coloured cardstock, one good way to use up scraps to make the candles, 80 candles which mean't I needed 8 panels with 10 candles each. For the front of the card, I stamped the background using one of the paint splotched from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and then stamped the "Celebrate your Big Day with Cake" on to whisper white cardstock and die cut it using the balloons die cut. Die cut the number 80 using glitter cardstock and used washi tape and bakers twine to embellish.

Lotus Blossum

The Lotus Blossom stamp set also from the 2015 Sale-A-Brations catalogue is a 2-step stamping process, although in this case it actually needs 3 steps.
For this stamp set, it is best to stamp the 3rd image first and the 1st bold image last, and when using darker colours, it is best to stamp off some of the colour before stamping the image, otherwise you lose all the details.

You Brighten My Day

Using the You Brighten My Day stamp set in the Sale-A-Brations catalogue, I made this card which can be used for someone who has got engaged.  If you swap out the DSP, take out the hearts you could use it as a house warming card. So many uses for this stamp set.
