Hawaiian inspired 21st

I have been so busy preparing decorations and helping out at my niece's 21st that I haven't really had that much time for stamping.
Although most of the invitations were done via my printer, we did use Stampin' Up! cardstock and adhesives.
Colourful decorations using pom pom tissue flowers and origami brightened up the decor.

And last but not least, I found another use for the brown packing paper which comes with our boxes of Stampin' Up! goodies.  They make great "Tiki" columns and "grass skirts" or fringe - looks exactly like dried grass fronds. Used them on the tops of the windows, on the food table and on the tiki bar.  So if you're having a party and need decorations, consider using the brown packing paper. I even used them to hide the poles for the birthday banner and they looked like the bamboo fire poles.

Club SUM Workshop 27 January 2015

Tuesday 27 January

My first workshop of the year, I decided to make a card which I had seen demonstrated by Teneale Williams at the Party Time event.  The balloon swings like a pendulum via a mechanism hidden behind the front panel.  So simple, yet effective.

Materials Used from the 2015 Occasions Catalogue:
Celebrate Today stamp set
Butterfly Basics stamp set
Balloon Framelits Die
Cardstock
Dimensionals
The picture below shows the mechanism, which is virtually a folded piece of cardstock and a coin or heavy weight.
My other project used the following from the 2015 Occasions Catalogue:
Butterfly Basics stamp set
Butterflies Thinlits Dies
Painted Blooms DSP

Tip:  A trick I learnt at the Party Time event, use a dryer sheet with your dies to stop the paper getting stuck in your dies, they will stick to the dryer sheet instead. I found baking paper is also great, if you don't have any dryer sheets and you get a die cut that is translucent like vellum which you can use in other projects. Position the baking paper between the die and the cardstock.

Best Day Ever

Another stamp set from the 2015 Sale-A-Brations catalogue, I thought this would make a great masculine card and can be used for any occasion.  When I was making this card it was Australia Day, so I used the colours from the Australian flag. Being a public holiday it was the "best day ever" as far as I was concerned.

Wedding Invitations

I was recently asked if I could make some wedding invitations, not just any invitation, they wanted a box card invite and not some romance run of the mill card. It had to incorporate travel as they were having an overseas wedding. Fortunately for me, they only required 13, but I ended up making 15.

So using my Silhouette Cameo, and some files I had purchased, I set about creating the custom Wedding Invitation.
I was taking some photos as I was assembling it.

They turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself...gave myself a big pat on the back.

Stampin' Up! Party Time Event

Saturday 17 January

An event held for demonstrators by demonstrators, this was a fun event to attend with my fellow demonstrator friend, Sue.

Learnt a few new tips and tricks and got a few ideas for my up-coming workshop with my group of ladies.

Put on by some local demonstrators, including Di Banners (Project Life), Jane Clark (Blendabilities), Teneale Williams (Stamping projects) and others, we got to make and take some projects as well as take home a box of catalogues, although we really wanted the stamp set we had been using.

The following photo was taken by the Stampin' Up! representative, Aaron Scott and was posted on their Facebook site. Can you spot me and Sue?
